My passion in life is about creating a positive attitude in women about their experience of menopause. The word menopause seems to have so many negative connotations in society. To be described as a menopausal woman is never a compliment.
And yet for me this is a very positive time in my life. I am doing work that I love. My son is successfully launched into independent living. My husband is enjoying his retirement. I have time to travel and enjoy my hobbies. I am not as young as I was but that’s ok. I am healthy and
confident about the way that I look
But all that is not enough. I want other women to experience that too. The first step is related to self-esteem. Good self-esteem is the foundation for positivity in your life. If you have good self-esteem, you don’t waste time worrying about what other people think about you.
Here is a simple exercise* that you can do to increase your self-esteem.
Step 1 Think back over the last seven days and remember a positive experience you had. Picture that situation and make the image big and bright and colourful.
Step 2 Reflect on that experience. How did it make you feel? Where in your body did you get those good feelings? What made it a positive experience?
Step 3 What would you say to a friend who had a similar experience?
Step 4 What part did you play in bringing that experience into your life?
Step 5 What does that experience mean about you? What did you learn from it?
Do that experience at the end of every day and make a note of it in a positivity journal and you will feel your self-esteem rising. You will find yourself noticing more positive experiences as you prime your brain to enjoy them.
Have a brilliant week!
