Things I learned from myself next year

I can’t believe that it is nearly time for my birthday again.  That year has flown by.  Last year I celebrated my 60th birthday, an age that we used to think of as time to slow down and perhaps retire.  But in the last 12 months I have surprised myself with the things I have done and accomplished.   Cake Book

Back in June I launched my third book, Cool Recipes for Hot Women, by having a stand at the East of England Well-being Show with co-author and nutritionist Jenny Tschiesche.  We shared a stage with TV’s Dr Anita Sturnham and Stephan Gates.  That same month I flew to Cyprus for just 24 hours to talk at a seminar.

I have launched two on-line products. I have had articles published on MSN, in Natural Health, Beauty Despite Cancer, Scottish Daily Express, Menopause Exchange, Bella and Cambridge News.  I have given interviews on BBC Radio Cambs, Croydon Radio, Prime Time Business and Resonance FM.

In September, Jenny and I went to France to look at a venue for our Cool Recipes Retreat in May and did some filming while we were there. Only last month I flew to Los Angeles for business and pleasure.

I’m not saying all that to blow my own trumpet but to point out that I would not have predicted half of that In April 2014.  How can we use the past to predict the future when all around us change is happening?  We can’t.  So I asked my future self in April 2016 to give me some advice. Here are her top tips:

  •  Age is just the number of days you have lived in this physical form.  It doesn’t have to define your body.  It definitely doesn’t define your spirit.  Nurture your body and your spirit to keep them young
  • Embrace opportunities, you never know what they will lead to
  • Don’t restrict your dreams by what you think you can do now.  You will be surprised how much more you can achieve
  • Keep learning and sharing.  That is your passion and your purpose
  • Surround yourself with positive people who share your values
  • Keep practicing mindfulness. A bit more stillness would be good for you
  • Create more fun
  • Be kind to yourself
  • You are going to be amazed by 2015/16

That all looks like great advice.  I would add ‘Menopause is a beginning not an end.’

Thank you Future Pat.
