Excess Holiday Weight

And no, this not about making sure your luggage does not exceed the airline limits!

I am just back from a wonderful week on the island of Crete.  Lots of lazing about, wonderful fresh food and a couple (!) of gin and tonics.  Feeling very rested but my jeans are feeling a bit tight.  I have gained 3 lbs.

I could just ignore it.  It’s only a few pounds and now I am back at home and in my routine that weight could just disappear.  But I know that is not a good idea.  If I don’t take action those pounds could just stay there and become part of my new normal weight.  The next thing you know, I will need to buy larger jeans just to feel comfortable.

It is much better to do something about it straight away.  Starting today I will:

  • Get back into my morning exercise routine
  • Cut refined carbohydrates out of my diet such as white bread, cakes and biscuit
  • Eat more vegetables
  • Only have a glass of alcohol at the weekend
  • Drink more water

So if you are going away on holiday soon, have a lovely time.  If you put on a few pounds, take action to lose them as soon as you get home.  You don’t want that bulge to be your holiday souvenir!
